Router and Switch Requirements

  • Cisco, Juniper and Nortel - various NetFlow or IPFIX-enabled switches and routers, given appropriate hardware and software support. Cisco 6500 and 4500 series switches are capable of exporting NetFlow, given the appropriate hardware.
  • Any device capable of exporting NetFlow or IPFIX. For the software to function properly with a device, the exports must contain correct ifIndex information and have otherwise well-formed NetFlow export packets.
  • Any device capable of exporting sFlow such as those from HP, Extreme, Foundary, Alcatel-Lucent and others.
  • Any device without inherent NetFlow or IPFIX capability may also be fully supported through the use of the nProbe NetFlow generator.
  • NetFlow export versions 1, 5, 7 and 9 are supported, in addition to the emerging IPFIX standard (IP Flow Information eXport).

Platforms
NetFlow Tracker is available as software or on a pre-cofigured Fluke Networks appliance. Software is licensed by the number of devices exporting to the NetFlow Tracker server (note Cisco 4500 & 6500 series devices may count as more than one device).

The Appliance is a 1U rack mount server with Dual Quad Core Xeon CPU, 8GB RAM, 6 x 300GB RAID 10 configured disks.
